Baritone SeungHyeon Baek is rapidly establishing himself as one of the most compelling voices on the American opera scene, acclaimed for his “full, generous baritone voice” and dramatic presence. He has appeared with leading companies including the Metropolitan Opera, Canadian Opera Company, New Orleans Opera, St. Petersburg Opera, and Maryland Lyric Opera. His repertoire features roles such as Rigoletto, Scarpia (Tosca), Sharpless (Madama Butterfly), Enrico (Lucia di Lammermoor), Marcello (La bohème), Figaro (Il barbiere di Siviglia), Conte di Luna (Il trovatore), Tonio (Pagliacci), and Gianni Schicchi.

This season, he returns to the Metropolitan Opera once again to cover Marcello in La bohème. Upcoming engagements include Rigoletto with Vero Beach Opera, Madama Butterfly with Opera Grand Rapids, La bohème with Opera Orlando, and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 with the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra. As a concert artist, he has appeared at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, and with ensembles such as the Hawaii Symphony Orchestra and the Adelphi Chamber Orchestra.
