Alejandro Baliñas

Galician bass Alejandro Baliñas Vieites (born 1997 in Villestro, Santiago de Compostela) studied under the guidance of Carlos Chausson and Manuel Burgueras, among others.
His artistic growth has been shaped by leading international institutions. He joined the Paris Opera Academy (2021–2023), where he performed roles such as Seneca in L’incoronazione di Poppea and Blanzac in La scala di seta. He made his Paris Opera debut in the 2022/23 season as Zúñiga in Carmen, before returning the following year to sing Pietro in Simon Boccanegra, alongside several other roles as a member of the Paris Opera’s first troupe (2023–2024). In 2021 he was selected for the Accademia Rossiniana in Pesaro, performing Don Profondo in Il viaggio a Reims, and in 2023 he joined the Young Singers Project of the Salzburg Festival making his debut as Kostandis in the opera “The Greek Passion” at the Austrian festivallater and returning as a guest artist to the Rossini Opera Festival in 2022 and 2024. He also appeared as Timur in Turandot at the Teatro de la Maestranza (2024). Over the course of his career, he has already debuted more than 35 roles in different languages.

His achievements have been recognized with multiple international distinctions. At the Neue Stimmen competition (2024), he was awarded First Prize, as well as the Audience Prize, the Young Audience Prize, and the Special Prize of Patagonia. During his years at the Paris Opera Academy, he was also awarded the Prix Carpeaux and the Prix AROP, honors recognizing outstanding resident artists for their performance and promise.

Alejandro Baliñas Vieites has performed on stages across Europe and beyond, including the Paris Opera, Palau de les Arts Valencia, Teatro de la Maestranza, Rossini Opera Festival, Salzburg Festspiele, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Theater Basel and the Auditorio Nacional de Caracas, among others.

In the 2025–2026 season he will make two major debuts: Leporello in Don Giovanni at the Opéra de Dijon and Figaro in Le nozze di Figaro at the Gran Teatre del Liceu. He continues a close collaboration with director Christof Loy, further consolidating a career that already bridges tradition and innovation, and confirming his place among the leading young basses of today.
