Contralto Lidija Jovanović has collaborated on multiple occasions with Nathalie Stutzmann, performing some of the most prominent roles written for contralto, such as Matthäus-Passion and Weihnachtsoratorium by Bach, or Händel’s Messiah, in renowned venues across England, Norway, and Ireland.

Following the recent release of Vespro della Beata Vergine by Monteverdi with the Ensemble I Gemelli, which she has performed at the Victoria Hall in Geneva, the Palau de la Música Catalana in Barcelona, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Teatro de la Maestranza in Seville, and the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence, she stands out this season in the chamber opera Les Dinos et l’Arche, performed with the Cappella Mediterranea under the direction of Leonardo García Alarcón at La Cité Bleue in Geneva.

In the operatic field, she has debuted roles such as Flora Bervoix, Mercédès, Cherubino, and Lesní žínka at the Opéra-Théâtre Metz Métropole and the Opéra de Reims. Her lyrical repertoire also includes roles such as Zita, Mother Bayard, Dritte Dame, and Carmen. Upcoming engagements include Zia Principessa (Suor Angelica) and Page (Salome).

As a soloist, she has worked with prestigious ensembles such as the National Symphony Orchestra RTÉ (Ireland), the Stavanger Symphony Orchestra (Norway), the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic (United Kingdom), the Oslo Philharmonic (Norway), the RTS Symphony Orchestra in Belgrade (Serbia), and the Ensemble Contrechamps on Radio Suisse-Romande.

She has worked under the baton of conductors such as David Reiland, Kaspar Zehnder, Cyril Englebert, José Miguel Pérez-Sierra, William Blank, Bojan Sudjić, Yves Corboz, Szymon Bywalec, and Johannes Kalitzke. She currently works closely with Mariella Devia and Christiane Stutzmann.

Born in Belgrade, Lidija Jovanović began her musical training at the age of six as a pianist. She holds a Master’s degree in Piano Performance from the HEMU Lausanne and was part of the Swiss Opera Studio under the guidance of Nathalie Stutzmann.
